El dueño de los Diablos Rojos del México, Alfredo Harp Helú, fue seleccionado para ingresar al Salón de la Fama del Beisbol Mexicano en la próxima ceremonia que se realizará este año.
Harp Helú fue elegido de manera directa por la Asamblea del Salón de la Fama al reconocerle su inagotable aportación al beisbol mexicano en distintos ámbitos. Enamorado de este deporte desde la infancia, el empresario llegó a la Liga Mexicana en 1994 al comprar al equipo Diablos Rojos y desde entonces convertirse en uno de los personajes más importantes.
Su apoyo no sólo mantuvo a los Diablos Rojos como equipo protagonista en la LMB, que ha ganado seis de sus 16 títulos bajo su administración, sino que ayudó a que la carrera de cientos de peloteros pudiera llegar al profesionalismo, varios de ellos incluso alcanzaron las Grandes Ligas.
Además, en 2009 creó la Academia de desarrollo de jugadores que lleva su nombre en Oaxaca, y en 2014 comenzó con la construcción del Estadio AHH en la Ciudad de México, mismo que fue inaugurado en 2019. Ese mismo año abrió las puertas el Salón de la Fama del Beisbol Mexicano, proyecto que también fue encabezado por Alfredo Harp Helú.
Durante la ceremonia de ayer se hizo oficial que el sinaloense Juan Gabriel Castro también entrará al Recinto de los Inmortales en la categoría de Mexicanos en Grandes Ligas, luego de una carrera de 17 temporadas, en las que jugó para cinco equipos.
Castro es actualmente el manager de los Diablos Rojos.
A la par, en la Generación 2023 se cuenta con Tomás Herrera, quien fue el que mayor cantidad de votos recibió en la categoría de Managers.
De igual forma, en la categoría de Jugadores del Beisbol Mexicano, el catcher Noé Muñoz entrará al Salón de la Fama después de construir una carrera de 24 temporadas, que comenzó en 1990. Por su parte, Luis Rayo Arredondo será inmortal luego de que implantó varias marcas en la pelota mexicana, entre ellas la de más bases robadas en todos los tiempos, con 527.
